Taini Ravasua, 70, has spent more than 30 years as a market vendor at Labasa, now thriving in her business of selling fruits. Residing in Lajonia, Labasa, Ms Ravasua’s journey at the market started with selling juice before she transitioned to selling fresh produce. “I used to cook and sell vegetables, but now I mainly focus on fruits,” Ms Ravasua said.

Her five children helps her with the business, helping her manage the stall and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. “It’s a family effort, and I’m grateful for their support,” she said. Ms Ravasua buys her produce from suppliers, then sells it at a price range that works for her and her customers.

“I set my prices based on what I buy and I always try to keep them affordable,” she said. Despite being one of the older vendors at the market, she remains energetic and dedicated to providing quality fruits and vegetables to her loyal customers. Her husband, who retired years ago, now enjoys a more relaxed life, while Ms Ravasua continues to manage the business with her children’s help.

“Being financially independent has allowed me to enjoy staying here,” she added. Through the years, Ms Ravasua has built a strong presence at Labasa Market. Her business is a family-centred operation that has provided steady income for years.

With hard work, support from her children, and a commitment to quality, she continues to serve the community, proving that perseverance and family can lead to lasting success. Feedback: devisha.prakash@fijisun.
