Some dads in the Prince Albert area have upgraded their skill set. A hair-braiding seminar was held on Thursday at Body Mechanics Salon and Spa. Jayda Schutlz is the mastermind behind the idea and noted a number of staff have their own kids.

“So we know what home life can be like and trying to get dads involved is always a fun thing to do and when the little girls come here, they are always so excited to get braids,” she said. Roughly 10 dads signed up for the seminar and Schultz confirmed plans to do it again in the future. She also noted there were a lot of laughs and one of her personal takeaways was a need to start with the basics.

“Even just trying to teach how to brush hair,” she said, recalling one eager dad she worked with. Colby Oreel brought his daughter Bexleigh. “I thought it would be fun to take my daughter out and have a little daddy/ daughter date and I learned quite a bit here on how to do hair so it worked out good,” he said after.

While dads are typically associated with teaching their children how to change a tire or casting a fishing line, these dads all seemed pretty open and willing to take on the task. “I’m usually gone to work before the kids wake up so it was nice to actually have the opportunity to learn how to do it so now I’ll do it more,” Oreel said. nigel.
