A. George Holyst OBITUARY A. George Holyst, 85, of Southington, husband of Carol Holyst, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late George and Elvira (Ducki) Holyst. George was a resident of Plainville before moving to Southington 38 years ago. He was a member of the first graduating class of St.



Thomas Aquinas High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

George was a member of the American Legion Post 72, the Polish Falcons, and the Bristol Fish and Game Club. He was formerly involved in supporting and fundraising for the Southington High School Marching Band. He also supported activities at Linden School in Plainville, formerly serving as chairman of the Children’s Fair.

Surviving are his wife, Carol (Hansen) Holyst; his daughter, Heather Kearney and her husband Jason of Nevada; his sister, Elaine Holyst of Southington; and two nieces, JoAnne Dombrowskas and Donna Dombrowskas. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his son, Christopher Holyst; and by his sister, Barbara Dombrowskas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11 AM at St.

Dominic Church, Southington. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Monday, April 21, 2025 from 4-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So.
