While many yesterday celebrated Prophet Muhammad’s birthday in planned activities and worship at homes and mosques, others used the public holiday at picnic spots around the country. The day, sunny and breezy, was the perfect choice for a family day out. Among those enjoying the day were members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church.

Yesterday started with a service and later team bonding including potluck for lunch and activities. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the senior pastor of the church, Suresh Kumar said the turnout and the activities were very engaging, “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get together,” she said. “We had a good lunch, and we did games, spoon race, apple and bun eating, duck and wheelbarrow and touch rugby and then the last activity was swimming.

” Also at Suva Point at Laucala Bay, was the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu. Picnic was the prefect break from school and work, according to dad Kibae. Caleb Ueanimaraki, 15, said the trip was a relaxing one.

“I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school, he said.
