This April, the coastal province of Almería will once again play host to one of the region’s most beloved culinary events: Degustho Almería, Festival Gastronómico . From 4 to 6 April, the town of Huércal-Overa will become the heart of Andalusian gastronomy, offering a vibrant programme that blends food, music, culture, and community. The festivities begin on Friday 4 April with the opening of the food and restaurant stalls at 18:30, followed by a children’s cooking workshop using Thermomix at 19:00.
At 19:30, renowned chef Roque González will present a cooking demonstration entitled Almería Tierra y Mar (Almería Land and Sea), highlighting regional ingredients and culinary traditions. The official inauguration of the festival takes place at 20:00. Culinary Talent, Family Fun, and Regional Pride. Family-friendly activities continue with a performance by Zumba Kids from the Centro Deportivo H2O at 20:15, followed by a cooking session by the gastronomic champion of the Murcia region, Pedro José Pérez, at 20:30. The day wraps up with a second Thermomix workshop and a concert by the group Kaliqueños at 22:30.
Saturday 5 April promises a packed schedule, beginning with tastings of local stews courtesy of Primaflor at 12:00. A children’s chocolate workshop by chef Sergio Sánchez, takes place at 12:30. At 13:00, the public will be treated to a cooking demonstration from the celebrated pastry chef Mario Aguilera, while at 17:00, Fernando Rueda will lead a children’s workshop.
Chef Fernando Rueda will return at 18:00 for a cooking demonstration for adults, followed by the highly anticipated National Ham Carving Championship at 19:00. At 21:30, visitors can sample a variety of artisan beers, before the day closes with a concert by the band Vicios Caros at 22:00. Sunday 6 April begins with the Spanish Omelette Contest at 11:00, alongside a cooking workshop for children at the same time.
At midday, master chef Kisko García will lead a cooking session. At 13:00, Tapas with Meaning will highlight creative and intentional tapas, prepared live with a focus on taste and storytelling. The festival will draw to a close at 13:30 with the awards ceremony for the tortilla competition.
With chefs, artisans, and producers from across Spain, Degustho Almería brings together the essence of Andalusian cuisine and innovation in one welcoming, family-friendly space.
