'A bright light' - Funeral details announced for two teens killed in separate crashes over weekend

Two young men, Órán McConville and Morgan Henry, both tragically lost their lives in separate crashes over the weekend

The funeral details for two teens who tragically died in separate crashes in Northern Ireland over the weekend have been announced, as tributes pour in for the two young men. Órán McConville, from Rathfriland, Co Down , was in the front seat of a car which crashed near Hilltown in Down on Saturday . Police and emergency services were rushed to the scene of a collision involving a grey-coloured Volkswagen Golf on the Kilkeel Road in Hilltown at around 2am.

Órán was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The teen driver of the car was arrested but later released on bail pending enquiries. The 18-year-old will be remembered by his loving mother Amanda, his brother Shéa as well as his grandmother Bridie McDonald, grandfather Paddy Francis McConville and his many extended family members and wide circle of friends.



His death tragically comes just six weeks after the passing of his father, Paddy on February 21, and 16 years since the heart-breaking loss of his sister, Rachael, Belfast Live reports. Órán was remembered as a "bright light" in the local community by Drumgath GAA Club, where he was a member. His old school, St Mark’s High School, also paid tribute to the young man.

Órán’s remains will repose at his home from 1pm to 8pm on Monday and Tuesday, with removal on Wednesday at 1.30pm for 2pm Requiem Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Drumgath.

Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Morgan Henry, from the Tandragee area of Armagh also lost his life in a separate two-vehicle crash near Portadown at around 1.40am on April 6 on the Dungannon Road, involving a blue BMW 330 and a red Vauxhall Corsa.

Morgan, the 18-year-old driver of the Corsa, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency services. The four occupants of the BMW received medical treatment following the collision. The young man will be remembered by his beloved parents Lauren and Gareth, brothers Reuben and Cherith, as well as his loving grandparents, girlfriend, and many other friends and extended family members.

His former football club, Tandragee Rovers Football Club, paid tribute to Morgan alongside the Tandragee Primary School, which praised him as "a capable, fun loving and well-liked young man." Morgan’s funeral service will also take place on Wednesday at 2pm in Mullavilly Parish Church, with committal following in the adjoining graveyard. PSNI Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of both collisions and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with their enquiries.
