
A two-year-old girl who was injured in a shootout between families from warring clans in Cáceres died this Monday, the Extremadura Health Service confirmed to Efe. Early Sunday morning in Plasencia, members of one clan began shooting from inside two cars at a family with whom they were having a dispute, allegedly over drug trafficking issues. Members of the other clan responded by shooting, and it was in this exchange of gunfire that the little girl was injured.
The girl was taken to the Maternal and Child Hospital in Badajoz and admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where she eventually died. Also injured in the clash between clans was a 25-year-old girl who was shot in the foot and remains in stable condition at the Virgen del Puerto Hospital in Plasencia. The National Police continue to investigate the events.
