Hardy, versatile, and a uniform in everyone’s wardrobes, one can always trust denim to be part of a foolproof outfit formula. But just because it is a staple, it doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Look no further than Blackpink ’s starlet Jennie Kim, for evidence.
After all, since her debut onto the fashion scene, the Chanel ambassador and ‘ Mantra ‘ star has developed a denim formula that is both practical and fresh. Just recently, she took airport fashion to another level in a Chanel denim puffer and floral printed jeans, whilst finishing the look with a pair of fuzzy shearling lambskin earmuffs from the house. If anyone had any doubt that Jennie is a certified denim influencer, then her appointment as a Calvin Klein ambassador confirms this.
It was Calvin Klein who, by placing his logo on the back pocket of his jeans , made “designer jeans” a thing in the mid- ’70s, and the label has ensured that it has since stayed relevant by working with ambassadors from Kate Moss in the ’90s to Jennie in 2021. While it’s a delight to observe and fantasise over the trophy pieces that elevate Jennie’s wardrobe, her approach to denim is one that we can all try.
