9 trolleybuses transferred from Bishkek go on line in Osh

- Some 9 trolleybuses that were transferred by Bishkek started running on two lines in the city of Osh from October 15. According to chief engineer of the municipal motor transport company Ryspay Jeenaliyev, two trolleybus lines were not operating due to the repair works for 6 months. A total of 12 trolleybuses were running on these two lines, including 8-9 trolleybuses go on line today.

Concerning 100 trolleybuses that were transferred by the city of Bishkek, 38 trolleybuses came to the motor depot. They go online on the order. In order to get all these trolleybuses on the routes, additional lines are to be installed.



Earlier, the mayor’s office of Bishkek handed over 100 trolleybuses to the city of Osh. Members of the Osh City Council on June 6, 2024 adopted a resolution No. 216 on giving consent for receiving 100 trolleybuses with equipment for their operation.

Some 6 trolleybuses were sent to Naryn from Bishkek. In June 2024, Bishkek officials said that the trolleybus lines will be left on Aitmatov, Kurmanjan Datka and Jibek Jolu Avenues. The mayor of Bishkek told that a large amount of funds is needed for replacement of lines.

"Therefore, we decided to reduce the number of trolleybuses and leave a big circular trolleybus line on Aitmatov Avenue, Kurmanjan Datka street and Jibek Jolu Avenue," he said. 1200 routes were removed from the center of Bishkek. They were replaced with buses.

1000 buses were purchased for the government funds, 114 buses for the funds of EBRD, 17 buses for German grants. 68 more buses will arrive. According to the mayor’s office, the process of purchasing 120 electric buses will be completed.

In 2024, the process of purchasing of 120 electric buses will be completed, the work is underway to prepare the electrical charging infrastructure. There were 152 trolleybuses in Bishkek. The city of Osh received 100 trolleybuses.
