By Katelyn Umholtz OpenTable announced its website’s top restaurants in the country, and several New England eateries made the cut this year. The popular restaurant reservation platform said the list of 100 eateries was “driven by diners;” as well as OpenTable being a website where users can secure a table in advance, they can also leave restaurant reviews. OpenTable specifically looked at reviews left between Oct.
1, 2023 and Sept. 30, 2024, which amounted to 14 million reviews across the nation. “Restaurants with a minimum threshold of diner reviews were considered and evaluated by a compilation of unique data points, including diner ratings, the percentage of five star reviews, the number of alerts set, the percentage of reservations made in advance, percentage of capacity and direct searches,” according to OpenTable.
It’s important to note that not every restaurant uses OpenTable as its reservation system. The restaurants that don’t use OpenTable as a reservation tool can still have profiles, where people can leave reviews, but some of Greater Boston’s most renowned restaurants don’t have a single review — Bar Volpe and Field & Vine, for example. Others, like O Ya or Nightshade Noodle Bar, don’t even have a profile on OpenTable.
Still, its review-based list includes celebrated eateries in Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. Each New England restaurant below had a rating of 4.7 stars out of 5 or higher.
