82-year-old grandma's shower finally fixed after months of delays

A grandma living in Norwich's NR3 area was left without a working shower for months by Orbit Housing Association - who have now fixed the problem.

After suffering for months without adequate washing facilities, a city grandma has finally had her shower fixed by her housing association. Miriam Gay, 82, can now properly wash for the first time since mid-August after contractors for Orbit Housing Association mended the leak that was stopping her from using the shower. She said: "It was fixed on Thursday last week and is working as it should, with no leaks. "It is just a relief that she no longer has to stress about this anymore and she can focus on her recovery." In the summer her shower started leaking water onto her bathroom floor, and she stopped being able to use it and started calling Orbit to fix the problem. Despite contractors coming out to have a look, nothing was done. The shower has now been fixed by Orbit Housing Group (Image: Contributed) In September, the Norwich nan suffered a stroke and ended up receiving treatment at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where she recovered.

Granddaughter Natasha described the ongoing saga as a "nightmare" when Miriam was released from the hospital and returned to her home - still with no washing facilities. The issue was fixed within two weeks of this paper running the story (Image: Newsquest) A spokeswoman for Orbit Housing Group apologised to the Norwich nan and her family after this paper contacted them.
