7kg of gold & silver haul from cab on Rajiv Gandhi bridge

Pune: The Static Surveillance Team (SST) seized 2.5kg of gold jewellery worth over Rs1.57 crore and 4.

5kg of silver jewellery worth Rs4.16 lakh from a passenger travelling in the cab at Rajiv Gandhi Bridge in Aundh around 5am on Saturday. The Chatushrungi police, which was a part of the SST, called income tax (I-T) and GST officials to the spot and handed over the jewellery for further investigation.



Deputy commissioner of police (Zone IV) Himmat Jadhav said, "We recorded the seizure at the Chatushrungi police station." He said, "The cab was heading to Pune city from Navi Mumbai. There were two people in the cab— its driver and a passenger.

The latter was carrying the jewellery in a bag." "The SST officials stopped the vehicle, checked it, and found the items. The passenger failed to provide any documents for the jewellery before police officials and other authorities, leading to the seizure," he said.
