7-foot python stuck in car’s AC unit rescued after 5 hrs

Kendrapada: A seven-foot-long Indian rock python was rescued on Monday from a four-wheeler after it had got trapped inside an air conditioner. The python was discovered inside the car’s air conditioning unit while the owner was washing his vehicle at Tentulikhunti village in Jajpur district . “After getting information from the car owner, we went to the spot and rescued the python.

The rescue operation lasted around five hours. The python was rescued after the AC unit was removed from the car. The reptile was examined for injuries and then released into the wild,” said Jyoti Ranjan Mohapatra, the forest range officer of Jajpur Road.



“When I saw the python after it was captured, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was huge,” said Adhir Mallick, a local. “One should not kill the reptile as it is a crime under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

Snakes play a crucial role in maintaining the ecosystem. We are trying to raise awareness among villagers not to harm snakes and other reptiles if they happen to make an appearance in the neighbourhood,” said a forest officer. “The frequent incidents of pythons venturing out of the jungle is a matter of concern.
