Pune: The court of special judge K P Kshirsagar convicted and sentenced a 70-year-old retired govt employee to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 10,000 for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old schoolgirl at a construction site on Oct 31, 2019. The court observed, “The victim, who was then a student of Std II, is not a tutored witness as she has given rational answers to questions posed to her. She is intelligent and understands the obligation of taking an oath.

Her evidence is reliable and trustworthy and corroborates with the evidence of other witnesses.” The prosecution’s case is that the accused was walking with a pet dog when he lured the victim to accompany him and sexually assaulted her.
