NEW DELHI: At least seven Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces during a joint operation by police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Thursday, a senior police official said. According to Bastar Police, the gunfight began at around 3 am in the dense forests of south Abujhmad, near the Dantewada-Narayanpur border. After the exchange of fire, security forces recovered the bodies of seven uniformed Maoists.
The operation involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bastar, and Kondagaon districts, along with CRPF teams, the official added. Search operations in the area are ongoing, with detailed information to be shared upon the operation's conclusion, according to IG Bastar P Sundarraj. Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the efforts of the security forces, stating that, "An anti-Naxal operation was going on in which our security forces succeeded in killing 7 Naxalites .

Earlier on Wednesday, two District Reserve Guards (DRG) personnel were injured in an IED blast, and another Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, an official told news agency ANI.
