A 6-year-old girl is dead after a driver ran a red light at a busy intersection in California. On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Palmdale Sheriff's Station responded to a traffic collision at around 11:00 a.
m. local time at the intersection of Pearblossom Highway and 25th Street East in Palmdale, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department . The preliminary investigation revealed that a 55-year-old female driving a 2022 gray Subaru Outback "entered the intersection of Pearblossom Highway to proceed northbound on Barrel Springs Road against a red traffic signal.
" The woman’s vehicle was involved in a crash with a 2014 Toyota Camry that "entered the intersection on a green traffic signal," per the department. The Toyota collided with the side of the Subaru. "A 6-year-old female passenger of the Toyota succumbed to her injuries at a local area hospital," the sheriff's department said.
Other individuals involved in the crash sustained "minor to serious injuries." The identities of those involved in the crash have not been released, nor the total number of people. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier this year, there was another fatal collision in Palmdale, during which a 2007 Honda Accord driven by a 19-year-old male collided with a traffic signal pole at around 12:40 a.m local time.
The incident occurred on Jan. 11 at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Technology Drive. The driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the 20-year-old passenger of the vehicle sustained minor injuries, authorities said.
