We've seen the world of college football get turned upside down over the past few years thanks to name, image, and likeness, and the Michigan Wolverines provided a great example of the impact it can have on Thursday. A report came out that the defending national champion Wolverines were willing to offer 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood an NIL deal of $10.5 million in order to flip his commitment from the LSU Tigers to Michigan.

Underwood is rated as the No. 1 player and No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class.

While this report left college football fans shocked at the move from Michigan, it appeared to have little impact on Underwood himself. A social media post from the blue-chip passer on Thursday night was wordless but spoke volumes. Underwood reposted an image to his Instagram story that suggested that he would be turning down the $10.

com/eQoNOMedJ2 It may not be an official confirmation or denial, but it definitely seems to give off the impression that Underwood doesn't plan to flip his commitment away from Baton Rouge any time soon. While that is a loss for Michigan if it's true, the bigger story here is that the Wolverines have announced their willingness to play ball in the QB market this offseason. Earlier this season, Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy declared that he was willing to contribute $3 million to Michigan for a quarterback, and now with this report that they're offering eight figures to a high school prospect, it's pretty apparent that they will be aggressive in trying to land a big fish in the offseason.

After the way that the likes of Jack Tuttle, Davis Warren, and Alex Orji have played this season, trying to fill the shoes of former national champion QB J.J. McCarthy, it's not a shock that they are trying so desperately to find an elite leader for their offense.

Without one, the Wolverines shouldn't expect to be competing for any championships again soon. Related: Joel Klatt Predicts Blowout in Big Ten Game of the Week.
