555th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Celebrated with Great Pomp

:The 555th Prakash Purab (birthday celebrations) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, was celebrated by thousands of Sikh devotees and people from other faiths across Telangana. The main celebrations began at 11 am continued up to 4 pm with a grand congregation at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally here. The event, jointly organised by the prabhandak committees of the Gurudwara Saheb at Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha of Ashok Bazaar, Afzalgunj, was filled with religious activities, including prayers, recitations of Gurbani Keertans, and the serving of Guru Ka Langar, a free community kitchen open to all.

Reputed Ragi Jathas (Sikh preachers) from across India were present, reciting Shabad Keertans, which stressed on the importance of imbibing higher values of life and communal harmony. The preachers emphasised the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev on national integration, peace, brotherhood, and communal harmony. They asked the devotees to follow his message of peace, love, and service, which remains relevant today and encouraged people to live honestly and serve others.



Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people and wished that Guru Nanak’s teachings inspire people to further the spirit of compassion, kindness and humility. “Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Sri Guru Nanak Jayanti. May the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji inspire us to further the spirit of compassion, kindness and humility,” Modi said on X.

“May it also motivate us to serve society and make our planet better.”.
