JAMMU: An Army vehicle ferrying soldiers of the 11 Maratha Light Infantry veered off the road and rolled down a gorge near a forward post in J&K's Poonch Tuesday evening, killing five personnel and leaving as many critically injured. The soldiers were travelling to Balnoi along the LoC in Mendhar when the accident occurred around 5.40pm.
There were 11 personnel, including the driver, in the vehicle, the Army said. The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps, also called the 16 Corps, put out a post confirming the accident. "All ranks of White Knight Corps extend their deepest condolences on the tragic loss of five soldiers in a vehicle accident during operational duty in the Poonch sector," it wrote.
