Several pets in Sussex are looking for their forever homes, including at the Brighton & The Heart of Sussex branch of the RSPCA. Whether you want to adopt a dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig, there is plenty of choice. A few animals from the branch are listed below but more can be found on the centre's website.

Smudge Smudge (Image: RSPCA) Gender - Female Age - 12 years old Breed - Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed Colour - White If you want to adopt Smudge you can view their full profile here . Smudge is a friendly and gentle older dog who enjoys short walks and knows a variety of commands.
She has lived with a male dog in her previous home and is socialising well with dogs at the shelter. Therefore, the RSPCA believes that she could share a home with another dog, but not with a cat or small animal. Additionally, she can be left for short periods and could share a home with children of secondary school age.
The RSPCA says: "She does the most adorable beg that will win everyone’s hearts!" Bosch Bosch (Image: RSPCA) Gender - Male Age - Six years old Breed - Domestic Semi crossbreed Colour - Black If you want to adopt Bosch you can view their full profile here . Bosch is described as a friendly cat who enjoys lots of fuss and affection. In his next home, he will need a garden he can access, preferably via a cat flap as he already knows how to use one Bosch could live with older, cat-experienced children and would prefer to be the only pet in the home.
The RSPCA adds: "Bosch has a grade 4 heart murmur. Thankfully he doesn’t need any treatment and has no symptoms accompanying it, so it is something he can live comfortably with. "It’s potentially something he was born with and we have lots of information for his new adopters to reassure them.
" Astrid Astrid (Image: RSPCA) Gender - Female Age - Six to 12 months old Breed - Domestic Shorthair crossbreed Colour - Ginger and White If you want to adopt Astrid you can view their full profile here . Astrid is described as a "sweet" and "soft-natured" cat who is still finding her feet at the centre. She enjoys some fuss but does need space and patience as she can quickly retreat if she finds herself overwhelmed.
In her next home, she will need a garden she can access and will need to be the only pet. The RSPCA adds: "Astrid is a special cat with some interesting quirks that make her stand out from the crowd - specifically she has very 'lax' shoulders, meaning they are even more flexible than the average cats! This doesn't affect her and is something she would have been born with." Recommended reading: Can dogs eat apples? Jack and Nicholas came into the care of the RSPCA via an inspector, they were neglected by their previous owners. Sadly, this meant that Nicholas needed a leg amputation but it has not impacted his character too much. Jack is a very bold and excitable ferret in comparison to Nicholas who is more soft-natured.
The pair will need an experienced home with a spacious set-up so they can burn off excess energy..
