BREAKING NEWS 49ers star ejected for PUNCHING Chiefs player in astonishing outburst By Eric Blum Published: 00:21 BST, 21 October 2024 | Updated: 00:48 BST, 21 October 2024 e-mail 1 View comments San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Trent Williams was ejected from his team's game against the Kansas City Chiefs for striking opponent Bryan Cook in the head with a stiff blow after a play had ended. It had been a frustrating afternoon for the 49ers in a rematch of this year's Super Bowl , with San Francisco's offense sputtering against the Chiefs with only one touchdown on the day before the game's closing moments. After a play with just over two minutes to go in the game, a downed Williams was smacked in the head by Chiefs' safety Bryan Cook.
Williams stood up and delivered a much-more barbaric blow to a helmeted Cook. Williams was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty on the play before being ejected. Fox stated on its broadcast that Williams at first refused to leave the field because Cook was not also tossed from the championship rematch.
Trent Williams struck Bryan Cook in the head during the final minutes of 49ers-Chiefs Like in many former incidents in the NFL, it was the player who retaliated, not instigated that got the harsher punishment. After striking Cook, Chiefs linebacker got into Williams face and the two traded harsh words, but not blows. More to come.
