4 rob people through dating app, arrested

1 2 3 4 Pune: Four youngsters from Mangalwar Peth were held for robbing multiple people after befriending them on a dating application. Bund Garden police on Friday arrested four young men, all residents of Mangalwar Peth, for robbing a CA firm assistant (38) of Pimpri after befriending him on a dating application. Senior inspector Ravindra Gaikwad of Bund Garden police said, "We have arrested Wajid Razzak alias Lalsaheb Shaikh (19), Mehboob alias Gaus Javed Shaikh (20), Shrinivas alias Shinu Vyakkappa Nayak (22), and Sohail Gafur Shaikh (24).

" The CA firm assistant lodged a complaint with the Bund Garden police, saying that four men robbed him near RTO Chowk on March 18 and forced him to transfer Rs 10,000 to one of the suspect's UPI application. One of the men had a profile on the dating application, where men date men, and the profile handler called the victim to the RTO Chowk for a date. They robbed him after assaulting him with wooden sticks and a belt.
