4 of robbers’ gang held; 2 girls joined it for ‘gadgets, clothes’

Times News Network Ludhiana: Division number 7 police busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of four persons, including two girls. Police said that the accused were involved in cases of snatching and loot . The girls said that they joined the gang because they wanted to buy latest gadgets and trendy clothes.

Police said that the accused confessed to have executed at least 12 incidents of snatching in the past few months. The arrested accused are Suman, 18, from Janakpuri, Khushi, 19 of Ghoda Colony, Miller Ganj, Bikramjit Singh alias Sonu of Cheema Chowk, Amit Chauhan alias Doremon of Baba Jiwan Singh Nagar at Tajpur road and Nikhil Kumar alias Choti of Vijay Nagar. Police recovered four scooters, two bikes, six mobile phones and sharp-edged weapons from their possession.



Sub-inspector Bhupinder Singh, SHO, division number 7 police station said that the accused were arrested from the house of Amit Chauhan, where they had gathered to plot another crime. The sub-inspector added that the accused used to snatch mobile phones and gold chains from commuters. They would threaten people using sharp-edged weapons.

Amit, Bikramjit and Sonu were already into snatching and the girls joined them for easy money. A case has been registered against them. Taxi driver, aides held for robbery Sarabha Nagar police arrested a taxi driver and his aides for robbing people in the city.

On August 28, the accused robbed a realtor, Nitin Syal from Barewal road of mobile phone, cash and scooter. The arrested accused have been identified as Varun of New Vijay Nagar, Harmeet Singh of New Deep Nagar and Madan Kumar of Kehar Singh Nagar. Madan Kumar is a taxi driver and police have recovered a Maruti Ertiga car used in the crime from him.

Inspector Pawan Kumar, SHO, Sarabha Nagar Police station, said that Varun and Harmeet are already facing trial in several criminal cases. A fresh FIR has been lodged against all the accused. There have been previous cases of crime involving or targeting taxi drivers in the city.
