NEW DELHI: Four people, including three women, were killed after their car collided head-on with a government bus at Shahapur in Yadgir district, police said on Friday. According to police, the accident took place on National Highway 150A near Maddaraki on Thursday night. The deceased are residents of Varkanahalli village in Yadgir taluk.

The victims have been identified as Likitha, Srilakshmi, Suhas, Shreyas, and Nithin — all aged between 21 and 22.
According to police, the three boys were residents of Mandya; two were engineering students and one, Nithin, was pursuing a diploma. The two girls, both engineering students, hailed from Mysuru. The group was en route to MM Hills to attend the Shivarathri Jathra Mahotsava when the accident occurred around 9 am.
Chamarajanagar Superintendent of Police BT Kavitha confirmed that the collision took place on a narrow bund road in Chikkinduvadi. The truck driver, allegedly speeding, lost control, causing both the car and the truck to topple into nearby agricultural fields. All five students died at the scene, while the truck driver sustained minor injuries and fled, according to Kollegala rural police.
