3-member US congressional delegation arrives on week-long visit to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - A 3-member US congressional delegation led by Tom Suozzi (democrat) arrived on Saturday on weeklong visit to Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD - A 3-member US congressional delegation led by Tom Suozzi (democrat) arrived on Saturday on weeklong visit to Pakistan. Visiting US Congressional delegation comprising Congressmen Jack Bergman, Tom Suozzi , and Jonathan Jackson would meet top political and military leadership of Pakistan. This first ever high-level US congressional delegation visiting Pakistan since United States President Trump took over the office on 20th January this year.

The delegation will visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir, capital Muzaffarabad where they will meet AJK PM Anwar Ul Haq Chaudhary and President Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary. The AJK leadership would give an in-depth briefing about the latest situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir including the security situation at the line of control. The delegation would also visit Lahore where they are expected to meet Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.



During the meetings, matters of mutual interest, economic cooperation and investment opportunities in Punjab will be discussed. The US congressional delegation would also visit the Kartarpur corridor where they would visit the shrine of Baba Guru Nanak. Punjab to present Thalassemia Prevention Act 2025 in assembly Pakistani American politician, and coordinator of the visit Mr Imran Igra talking to the Nation from New York said the purpose of this congressional delegation is to improve bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States and to have better understanding about Pakistan.

Mr Igra said the other matters including economy, trade, defense and military ties, and education were on the agenda of the talks during the visit. Mr Igra said that it would be the 4th visit by Congressman Tom Suozzi to Pakistan however, the other members of the delegation are visiting Pakistan for the first time. On Saturday congressional delegation met Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch at Foreign Office.

The two sides resolved to further strengthen and diversify bilateral relations in the areas of mutual interest. Tags: us congressional delegation.
