Gurgaon: Around 100 huts near Basai Chowk were gutted in a massive fire early Saturday morning, though no casualties were reported. The blaze broke out around 6am and was contained by 9 am after a three-hour firefighting operation involving ten fire tenders. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, authorities said.

According to Jainarayan, Sector 37 fire station officer, "Our team responded immediately, and additional support arrived from fire stations in Sector 29, Udyog Vihar, and Bhim Nagar. In total, 10 fire tenders were used to douse the flames." Officials from Sector 10 police and the civil defence department also assisted in the operation.

Chief warden of civil defence, Mohit Sharma, said the affected huts housed several shops selling items such as garments, fruits, utensils, and groceries, all of which were destroyed. "Fortunately, no one was injured. Most shops and nearby huts were operated or occupied by local workers," he said.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unclear, authorities noted that many residents use firewood for cooking, and small gas cylinders were found in some huts. "No gas cylinder exploded, but the loss of property is yet to be estimated," Jainarayan added.
