Thirty-five people were killed in a “major vicious incident” in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai on Monday night, local police said. The attacker, a 62-year-old man surnamed Fan, who drove a vehicle into the crowd outside a stadium, was stopped and taken to hospital after trying to kill himself, authorities say. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered local governments on Tuesday night to “strictly prevent extreme cases”.
