THE Asian Development Bank (ADB) has allocated $300,000 for the initial stages of a masterplan for the tourism development at Nasaulevu, Nadi under the Nakovacake Development Trust initiative. This was revealed by deputy director general of the Private Sector Operations Department at ADB Cathy Marsh. “We fully understand that tourism is a key pillar for Fiji and it’s economy,” she said.

Ms Marsh added through this MOU, they would be working together to formulate a masterplan for the responsible development of Nasaulevu. “A masterplan which would capture our shared vision of Nasaulevu as a prestigious environmentally sustainable and socially integrated development which will attract future generation of travelers to your beautiful country for the next 50 years and beyond.” She said ADB has also approved the funding to appoint Fiji’s and the world’s leading experts to work with them in formulating this development.

“This means we are not only ready to sign the MOU today but also to activate it forthwith. “We hope, we will be able to start this work, even before the end of this year.” “We have a budget envelope for up to $300,000 initially,” she said.
