BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The best way to describe Cobee Bryant is ball magnet.
The Kansas Jayhawks cornerback was an interception machine in college with 13 career picks during his four seasons in Lawrence. Bryant is a natural athlete with great instincts. However, scouts and draft analysts have concerns with his lack of size, Cobee said at the NFL Scouting Combine to not be fooled by those measurables.
"I'm a physical DB," said Bryant. "Don't matter about the size. The film talks for itself.
I'm a very physical DB and I want to prove that to the world. I want to prove that to a lot of scouts and I kind of did some of that at East and West [Shrine Bowl]. I kind of proved scouts that I can come up and tackle.
Cobee was the first Jayhawk in Big 12 history to earn first-team all conference honors in three consecutive seasons. He's battle tested having played in 47 college games. His head coach for all of those games was former UB coach, Lance Leipold.
"That's my father man," said Bryant. "He actually texted me today and asked me howI was doing and to just put on a show for him. I asked him, 'Am I prepared for this moment?' because I kind of get in my head sometimes.
He said 'no, I know you're ready for this moment.' So kind of just motivating me to just keep going tomorrow and just prove to the world that I'm one of the best."Cobee Bryant is projected to be a third or fourth round draft pick.
