Vadodara: Three men were sentenced to life imprisonment by the additional sessions court in Savli on Friday in connection with a rape case filed by a woman. The 20-year-old woman had registered a complaint of loot and rape at Jarod police station in 2022. According to the complaint, the woman was walking on Jarod Road on the night of Oct 31, 2022.
She was talking to her boyfriend when the trio, identified as Sanjay Chudasama, Pravin Solanki, and Vithhal Solanki, passed by on a motorbike. "They saw her talking on the phone and decided to loot the gadget. After snatching her phone, the trio changed their minds and decided to sexually assault her," said advocate C G Patel, public prosecutor.
The trio dragged her to a nearby isolated spot and threatened her with her life if she screamed. Chudasama sexually assaulted the girl while the other two held her. "Meanwhile, the boy with whom she was talking asked his friend Vishal Vasava to go looking for her as their phone conversation stopped suddenly.
Vasava reached the spot, following which the trio escaped from there. They were later arrested by police," Patel said. Apart from life imprisonment, the trio was penalised Rs 1 lakh each by the court.
