Chennai: Three men, including Sureshkumar, brother of the the sole suspect in the Anna University campus rape case Gnanasekaran, were arrested by the Puducherry police on charges of pledging fake gold jewellery for 10 lakh with a jewellery showroom in Mudaliyarpet in Puducherry. The arrest follows a complaint from Ramu from Ashok Jewellery Pawn Shop on Cuddalore main road in Mudaliarpet. The accused — Suresh Kumar, 33, of Kottur in Chennai, Prasanth Kumar, 28, of Kottivakkam, and Shek Ismail, 26, from West Bengal — were arrested from a hideout at a house on ECR.
Police recovered 1.1 lakh in cash and the materials used to manufacture fake gold jewellery. TNN.
