290 posts of consultants, over 50% posts of senior consultants in J&K distt hospitals lying vacant

Jammu, Mar 19: The Government Wednesday informed the House that 290 posts of consultants against sanctioned strength of 852 and 23 posts of senior consultants, out of 42, were lying vacant in district hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.In a written reply to the NC MLA Arjun Singh Raju, the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo said, “In J&K, there is a sanctioned strength of 852 Consultants against which 562 are in position and 290 are lying vacant till March 1, 2025. Further, the vacant posts are being filled up with the criteria ‘60:40’ where 60 percent posts are recruited directly through JKPSC and 40 percent posts are promotional quota.

”The Minister informed that the promotional quota was under process and active consideration in the Department as per mandate of DPC, whereas direct quota would be referred to JKPSC very soon after completing all codal formalities, including Ramban district.“Additionally, there is a sanctioned strength of 42 Senior Consultants in J&K against which 19 are in position and 23 are vacant. All posts are promotional quota and are under process as per mandate of DPC,” she replied.



Regarding District Hospital Ramban, she said that there was a sanctioned strength of 22 Consultants or Specialists. “Five are in position and 17 are vacant,” Itoo said.The post 290 posts of consultants, over 50% posts of senior consultants in J&K distt hospitals lying vacant appeared first on Greater Kashmir.
