More than £2.65 million is being invested to improve services for victims in Wiltshire. The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) has announced plans to enhance victim services as part of priority 4 in Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson’s #MakingWiltshireSafer Police and Crime Plan.

The investment includes £1.45 million from the Ministry of Justice and £1.2 million from the PCC’s commissioning budget.

Despite a reduction of 4.2 per cent in the Ministry of Justice victim grant compared to the previous year, all community services and frontline support remain a priority. Part of the investment will be used to improve Swindon's sexual assault referral centre with new equipment and environment enhancements.

"We know we cannot eradicate crime completely so we must ensure the services we are funding are delivering for victims when they need it most, regardless of whether they’ve chosen to report a crime to the police. "We will continue to drive delivery of the identified improvements to services to the required timescales to ensure victims are still able to be supported effectively.
