MIRI (Jan 3): Twenty-six non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and associations here were presented with the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant worth a total of RM92,000 from Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii. The MRP grants in the form of cheques were received by the representatives of the respective NGOs and associations at a simple handover ceremony at SUPP Pujut branch service centre in Piasau here yesterday.
Yii, who is also the Miri mayor, called upon the recipients to utilise the funds by organising activities that would not only benefit the NGOs or the associations but also the society here in general. The recipients comprised Miri Chawan Association Women Section; Miri Division Amateur Ten Pin Bowling Association; Miri Xiang Qi; Persatuan Penganut Dewa Some Shak Lung Kung Miri; Hainan Association Miri; SK Agama Miri; Persatuan Kebajikan Sokongan Keluarga OKU Miri; Hash House Harrier Oil Town Miri Association; Junior Chamber International Miri; Miri Hakka Association; Kelab Sukan Elektronik Bandar Miri; and Miri Intelligent Youth Club. Other recipients included Curtin Board Game Club, Curtin Mandarin Debate Club and Curtin Swimming Club; Sarawak OKU Skills Development Association’s Para Taekwondo Club; Jawatankuasa Induk Perayaan Islam Daerah Miri; Persatuan Warisan Seni Silat Bengkulat Miri; SJK(C) Chung Hua Miri Board of Management; Kelab Sepak Takraw Galaksi; Lions Club of Miri Central; Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Melayu Miri; Bakam Kindergarten; Persatuan Sukan Orang Pekak Sarawak; Borneo Evangelical Mission Taman Tunku (Bahasa Kenyah); and Guang Ning Miri Association.
