25 churches, temples in Bawang Assan receive MRP funds

SIBU (Dec 14): A total of 25 churches and temples in the Bawang Assan constituency received minor rural project (MRP) funds from Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian today. Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Central Youth chairman Councillor Kevin Lau presented the MRP funds, totalling RM125,000, to the recipients at SUPP headquarters at Jalan Kampung Dato.

Prior to the presentation of funds, Lau said he had applied for the MRP funds during his meeting with Dr Sim last October. “I would like to apologise for not being able to provide funds to all the churches and temples in Bawang Assan due to limited funds. However, we worked hard to secure these funds for all of you,” he said.



Lau, who is also SUPP Bawang Assan chairman, said they were thankful for the houses of worship’s good work in serving the people of their respective areas. “Through our concerted efforts, we would like to build a more harmonious society,” he said. He added he had also raised a few issues regarding Bawang Assan to Dr Sim during their meeting.
