Pune: A 22-year-old resident of Uttamnagar was hacked to death with a billhook by his friend over a trivial matter. " Jaydeep Dnayneshwar Bhondekar (22) of Uttamnagar was assaulted late on Sunday night by his friend. Bhondekar succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening, deputy commissioner of police (Zone III) Sambhaji Kadam said.
"Both were good friends. Bhondekar was assaulted over a petty issue." Tension escalated after Bhondekar's body reached Uttamnagar on Monday night, but Kadam and other police officers pacified the crowd.
Uttamnagar police registered a murder case against his friend and arrested him. Bhondekar's mother, Laxmi (42), lodged a complaint with the police. Kadam said, "Bhondekar was sleeping in his home on Sunday night when his friend visited him.
The two then went out. Hearing a commotion outside their home, Laxmi rushed out. The bystanders informed her that Bhondekar was assaulted with a billhook.
Bhondekar suffered serious injuries in his head. He later succumbed to his injuries.".
