Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Governor of Kano State, has criticized Northern leaders for interfering in the selection of candidates for the 2027 presidential election. Kwankwaso argued that this interference causes division within the community and hinders democracy by electing unqualified leaders. In an interview with BBC Hausa as published in Saturday, Kwankwaso emphasized that past elections should serve as a warning to these leaders, urging them to refrain from imposing their will on the people.

He described these claims as lies, saying, “They were told that I agree that Atiku will serve for four years, I will also serve for four, and Peter Obi will serve for eight years. This pact does not exist; it has not been made.
