The Polestar 2 has been subjected to yet another update overseas, as the Chinese-Swedish carmaker attempts to unlock greater value from its core electric model. Since its global deliveries began in late 2020 (preceding an early 2022 Australian arrival), the Polestar 2 has received two updates. The first came in early 2022, bringing minor design tweaks.

It was followed in 2024 by a more comprehensive change which saw front-wheel drive variants become rear-wheel drive, providing greater driving range. European examples of the Polestar 2 Standard Range Single Motor – the least expensive variant – are now powered by a 70kWh CATL battery pack, up from the 69kWh unit currently available.

Based on WLTP lab testing, this has led to a small driving range increase – now up to 554km instead of 546km – while the new pack can also charge faster, capable of being DC charged at 180kW instead of 135kW. Polestar 2 Long Range variants retain their 82kWh battery, though a more aerodynamic 19-inch wheel design (above) has increased its driving range from 655km to 659km. The 20-inch Pro wheels remain available as a cost option as a part of the Pro Pack, but are now available in a graphite finish (above) in addition to the existing silver and black palette.
