
KATSINA : Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has described the 2025 Hawan Bariki as a historic traditional homage, marking the first time the state was hosting ten international ambassadors and their families during the cultural celebration. Radda while addressing the dignitaries at the event on Monday, said, “We take great pride in hosting, for the first time, ten ambassadors from different countries along with their spouses and children. “Your presence graces this occasion, and we deeply appreciate your support.
We look forward to further collaborations and partnerships that will bring opportunities to Katsina State.” The Governor emphasized that Katsina’s cultural festivals are more than mere celebrations, describing the Grand Durbar as “a spectacular event that showcases our rich equestrian and cultural traditions.” “The iconic Sallah Durbar is not merely a festival; it is a testament to our deep-rooted culture, resilience, and unwavering commitment to peace and harmony”.
“The magnificent display of horsemanship, the vibrancy of our traditional attire, and the melodies of our folk music all reflect the beauty of our identity and the pride we take in preserving our heritage,” he added. Reflecting on the historical significance of the state’s cultural traditions, Governor Radda disclosed that “As far back as 1956, the historic Durbar was staged in Kaduna to honour Queen Elizabeth II, then the colonial head of Nigeria. “At that time, Katsina and Daura Emirates distinguished themselves, contributing immensely to the rich history of Northern Nigeria.
