GWM has reintroduced a flagship petrol-only Haval Jolion Ultra, allowing buyers to get a fully loaded SUV without having to spend extra for hybrid technology. The new GWM Haval Jolion Hybrid launched earlier this year with a different shape compared to the petrol-only Premium and Lux, which received only a minor facelift. During this changeover, the non-hybrid Ultra version of the ‘old shape’ Haval Jolion was dropped from the lineup.
Now, there’s a petrol Haval Jolion Ultra with the same design as the new hybrid models. The Haval Jolion Ultra is priced from $32,990 drive-away nationwide until December 31, where it’ll then be increased to $33,990 thereafter – the same price as it was before adopting its new design. 100s of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now.

It’s also available with three years of complimentary servicing until December 8, 2024, representing $810 in savings across the 60-month period. Powering the petrol-only Haval Jolion Ultra is a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 130kW and 270Nm, sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
It develops 25kW and 60Nm more than the Premium and Lux models, but 10kW and 115Nm less than hybrids. The same engine tune was previously used on the pre-update Jolion S. GWM claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 7.
5L/100km, or 0.6L/100km less than base petrol examples. While the lesser Jolion Premium and Lux are fitted with torsion-beam rear suspension, the Ultra gets a multi-link setup shared with the hybrid models and the defunct S.
Equipment exclusive to the petrol and hybrid Haval Jolion Ultra includes black 18-inch wheels (petrol only), a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, wireless phone charger, ventilated driver’s seat, 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat, head-up display, multi-colour ambient lighting and semi-autonomous parking assist. Features from the rest of the range which carry over include LED headlights, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.
25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a six-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, paddle shifters, and keyless entry and start.
