Ford has unveiled the 2025 Mustang Mach-E, and the EV is as notable for a price cut as it is for feature upgrades. The new model year starts at $36,495 before the destination fee, or about $3,500 less than the 2024 version. Even with the reduced price, the 2025 Mustang Mach-E includes some significant improvements.
The optional BlueCruise 1.5 hands-free highway driving mode now automatically changes lanes if you’re either behind a slow vehicle or have someone following too closely in the passing lane. Ford also expects it to stay in hands-free operation for longer.
A heat pump now comes standard, so you should expect better range and comfort in colder weather. There’s also a fresh Ford Connectivity Package that bundles a 5G hotspot, navigation service, and access to in-vehicle apps. If you’re looking for Mach-E GT style without the high matching price, a Sport Appearance Package for the Premium variant adds the GT’s 19-inch wheels, front fascia, grille shield, and red front brake calipers.
There are also three new colors (Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Velocity Blue Metallic, and Desert Sand) along with three wheel choices. Sales for the new Mustang Mach-E start in early 2025. BlueCruise will be available both in a yearly plan and as a one-time purchase.
The decision to simultaneously lower the price and add features isn’t as surprising as it might seem at first. While there have been some bright spots in Ford’s EV division, the automaker has been shifting some of its attention to hybrids as it grapples with a more difficult electric car market than it anticipated. The brand is even believed to be paying dealerships to take 2024 F-150 Lightnings as it makes way for new inventory.
The revisions for the upcoming Mustang Mach-E theoretically make it a considerably better value and prevent unsold stock before it starts. You not only pay less from the outset, but don’t have to tick as many options to get the EV you want. That could help Ford compete in a crowded electric crossover field that includes the VW ID.
