2025 BMW X3 30e xDrive priced for Australia as brand stands by PHEVs

BMW has confirmed the third member of its new-generation X3 range in Australia, with the 30e xDrive PHEV joining entry-level and flagship petrol models.

BMW Australia may have axed plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of its 3 Series and 5 Series, but it will offer such a powertrain in its new X3. The BMW X3 30e xDrive will arrive during the first quarter of 2025, wearing a price tag of $102,500 before on-road costs. That slots it between the petrol-powered 20 xDrive ($84,500 before on-roads) and flagship M50 xDrive ($126,900 before on-roads).

It can be recharged from empty in two hours and 15 minutes, an hour and a half quicker than the previous model. BMW says it has made various enhancements to the X3’s PHEV powertrain with the new generation. In Hybrid mode, the combustion engine is started prior to merging onto a motorway to allow the driver to accelerate at full power; in Electric mode, the engine is completely disconnected from the drivetrain.
