MALVERN, PA — The 2024 Advances in Inflammatory Diseases (AIBD) conference is set to provide groundbreaking educational opportunities and highlight leaders in the field of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Scheduled to take place from December 9-11 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Florida, this year’s event promises a diverse, cutting-edge program aimed at shaping the future of IBD care. The three-day event offers clinicians access to real-world case studies, the latest evidence-based management approaches, and insights from renowned experts.
It remains the only conference exclusively focused on IBD, drawing hundreds of professionals committed to advancing treatment for Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and other related conditions. “Advances in IBD is a transformative journey that seamlessly blends scientific innovation with practical solutions, steering the course for the future of IBD management,” said Dr. Stephen Hanauer, Co-Chair of the conference and Medical Director of the Digestive Health Center at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
This year’s agenda features over 100 sessions led by 75 expert faculty members, complemented by more than 150 abstracts presenting new research in IBD care. Key additions to the program include five pre-conference workshops on December 8, offering specialized discussions for advanced practice practitioners (APPs), women in IBD leadership, and other segments of the professional community. The newly introduced APP workshop includes group discussions on preceptorships, underutilized therapies, and opportunities for professional development.
Other returning pre-conference workshops include the Building an IBD Center workshop, the fully Spanish PANCCO Symposia, a Fellows Workshop with networking opportunities, and the Women in IBD Leadership Workshop, which will host breakout discussions on challenges and opportunities for women in the field. The 2024 program has also introduced a new Pharmacy track. This addition allows participants to examine the growing role of pharmacists in IBD care, particularly in the context of dual therapies and medication management resources.
Other program tracks include Surgery, Pediatrics, and Nursing, to ensure a comprehensive learning experience for attendees. The AIBD conference continues its tradition of recognizing outstanding contributions to IBD care with the prestigious Sherman Prize. This year’s honorees, to be celebrated on December 10, include three exceptional individuals who have made a lasting impact in their respective fields.
