2 teens riding 1 electric scooter are critically injured in crash with car in Orange

The boys were riding a single scooter against traffic, and they weren't wearing helmets, police said.

Two teenage boys were critically injured in a collision with a car as they rode an electric scooter together in Orange on Tuesday afternoon, April 1, police said.Officers responded around 2:05 p.m.

after the boys, who were riding the scooter against traffic, crashed into the front passenger’s side of a northbound Tesla at Hewes Street and Via Lardo Avenue, according to the Orange Police Department.The boys were not wearing helmets, and were transported to a hospital in critical condition, police said.The driver of the Tesla cooperated with the investigation.



Orange police Lt. Phil McMullin said anyone riding an electric scooter should wear a helmet, ride one person per vehicle and watch road conditions.“They need to be paying attention,” McMullin said.
