Two people were killed in separate road accidents in the capital's Uttara and Hazaribagh areas today. The deceased were Lipi Begum, 45, and Ruhul Amin, 25. Lipi suffered serious injuries after being hit by a bus of Golden Line Paribahan in Uttara's Abdullahpur around 7:30am.

Milton Mia, sub-inspector of Uttara East Police Station, said, "The accident took place when she was on her way to work." She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead around 9:30am, the SI added. Lipi, who was originally from Jhalakathi, lived at Dakshin Khan with her family and worked at a private firm in Uttara's Kamarpara area.

On the other hand, Ruhul Amin died on the spot when a covered van hit his bike from behind around 1:00am on the Beribadh Road in Hazaribagh.
