Ludhiana: Two women and a man were injured in a clash between two families over the cleaning of a street in Samrala . Complainant Meena Rani, wife of Davinder Singh, resident of Bagli Kalan village, said that on September 9, she was sweeping the road in front of her house when Pooja Rani, wife of Rajinder Singh, her son Manveer Singh and her brother-in-law Mahinderpal Singh, beat her up. Meena Rani said Mahinderpal Singh hit her with an iron rod, after which her husband Davinder Singh and others thrashed her.
Police later booked the accused. Investigating officer ASI Harjinder Singh Rai said a cross-case was also registered as Pooja Rani also submitted an MLR (medico legal report). The IO said preliminary investigation suggests Pooja and her family considered Meena Rani’s act of cleaning the road as a bad omen while they were passing by the area.
