2 dead, 1 seriously injured in accident

Ludhiana: Two persons died and one was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding on hit a tree on the roadside near Jagraon on Friday night. The accident took place between Manuke and Jhorar villages. The youths were returning from a fair when the accident took place.

Sources identified the deceased as Shamsher Singh of Kalsan village and Maninder Singh of Bassian village. The injured person was identified as Pradeep Singh. As per reports, they had gone to Baba Rode Shah’s fair at Kaunke Kalan village of Jagraon on Friday.



Sources said that after crossing Manuke village, the motorcycle driver, who was speeding, couldn’t control the vehicle and rammed it into a tree. Two persons died on the spot and the third was seriously injured. The motorcycle was also badly damaged.

Onlookers rushed the seriously injured person to a nearby hospital, where doctors referred him to PGI, Chandigarh. A police official said that families of the deceased took the bodies. Sources alleged that devotees were offered free alcohol at the fair.
