Ludhiana: The police have filed an FIR against a man for allegedly stalking, blackmailing, and raping his 19-year-old married neighbour. The accused reportedly recorded a video of the woman while she was bathing and used it to blackmail her, threatening to release the video, before committing the heinous crime. The accused is on the run.
In her complaint to the police, the woman said her neighbour had been stalking her for the past two months. She used to ignore him due to his inappropriate behaviour. However, the accused recorded a video of her while she was bathing and began blackmailing her to establish physical relations.
The woman said that on October 9, the accused barged into her house while she was alone and raped her. He threatened to kill her husband if she reported the incident. Initially, the woman said, she remained silent out of fear but later confided in her husband, and they filed a police complaint.
Investigating officer said an FIR under Section 64 (punishment for rape) of the BNS has been lodged against the accused. The police said they are conducting raids to apprehend him.
