2000 – 25years ago Mr. D’s, the largest full-service grocery store on North Broadway, was opened this morning under a new name, Silverlake IGA. A cardboard sign announcing a change in ownership was posted on the door.

According to eBay the auction of Gov. Ventura’s 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera drew 47 bids, with a winning bid of $40,300. The governor seemed leery, saying he thought those numbers were ”bogus.

1925 – 100 years ago Mr. C. Pestrand of Morris, Minnesota is $150 lighter this afternoon after having been taken by two sharpers in a card game while en route to Rochester on the noon train.
