18 Years of Dhoom 2 EXCLUSIVE: Allan Amin reveals UNTOLD story of Hrithik Roshan's 8-month rigorous rollerblading skate training and Aditya Chopra’s reaction to DARING opening sequence

Dhoom 2, produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by the late Sanjay Gadhvi, completed 18 years on November 2. It was the biggest hit of 2006 and is still considered to be one of the coolest action films to have come out of Bollywood. Action director Allan Amin choreographed the action and the fascinating stunts in this film. On Dhoom 2’s 18th anniversary, Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively with Allan Amin about working with Hrithik Roshan, designing the action and a lot more. Interestingly, Hrithik and Allan had earlier worked in Mission Kashmir (2000), the first Hindi film to have cable work. When asked about the brief given to him by producer Aditya Chopra and director Sanjay Gadhvi, Allan Amin said, “The one-line brief to me was that it should be bigger than Dhoom’s first part. Before they started working on the film, I had already designed the opening sequence wherein he (Hrithik Roshan) jumps off from the helicopter and lands on top of the train. When I went to meet Adi (Aditya Chopra) and Sanjay Gadhavi, I informed them about it. They were mesmerized by the idea. But then they wondered that if the opening scene is so grand, what about the climax? I assured them not to worry and added that, ‘If I can think of this scene, I’ll also think of the climax as well’. They trusted my conviction and okayed the entry sequence of Hrithik Roshan.”Allan Amin said that working with Hrithik Roshan was a good experience, “Whatever we told him, he did all the action scenes religiously. I made him practice rollerblading skates for 8 months. He practiced every day until he became a pro at it. Only then did we shoot the sequence with him.” The said sequence appears in the first half of the film and is memorable even today.Talking more about the opening sequence, Allan Amin stated, “I made Hrithik Roshan jump from a helicopter onto a moving train. Before shooting the sequence, I told a base jumper, ‘jump, land on the train and show me’. He jumped on a trial basis and touched his feet on the train. That’s when I realized that this is possible. And only then, we went ahead with the scene. Or else, we would not have done the scene.”Also Read: Hrithik Roshan shares excitement as Karan Arjun re-release emerges 2nd highest opener
